Alexander "Sandy" McSouthers
Alexander "Sandy" McSouthers is the 65 year old poorly educated doorman of Sunset Towers. The book does not mention where he lives, or who his family is. He worked at the Westing Paper Mill for 20 years, then was fired by Sam Westing himself. Then he wound up being the doorman. He listed his position in the Westing Game as "Doorman."
Sandy McSouthers' partner in the Westing Game is JJ Ford. Ford at first refuses to play the game, but Sandy begs her, and she agrees. They receive the clues "SKIES AM SHINING BROTHER." Sandy thinks that "Skies" means Dr. Sydney Sikes, a witness to the will, and AM BROTHER means Otis Amber. Ford also hires him to gather information on all the heirs, to find out which one could possibly be the murderer. At the 2nd will reading, Sandy suddenly kills himself, and everybody seems to be sad, especially Turtle, who said that he was her friend. But the heirs then find out something shocking. Sandy McSouthers is really Sam Westing..... In disguise. He dies at the age of 85, talking with Turtle.n

A bit more on Sam Westing
Sam Westing's real name was Windy Windkloppel (yes, that does mean that he is related to Grace Wexler) and used to be married to Crow. He had one daughter, Violet, who looked like Angela Wexler. He founded Westingtown, and owned a vast corporation, Westing Paper Products. James Hoo actually sued Westing over the invention of the Disposable Paper Diaper. He was said to go into hiding 15 years before Sunset Towers was created, but most people assumed that he was dead. He actually had plastic surgery, and took the form of Julian R. Eastman, the chairman of Westing Paper Products. Much later, he took the form of Barney Northrup, the real estate agent renting out Sunset Towers. After renting out all of the apartments, he took the form of Sandy McSouthers (see above) the friendly doorman of Sunset Towers. He dies at age 85.
