James "Shin" Hoo
James "Shin" Hoo (Sometimes called Jimmy) is a plump Asian man who lives in apartment 4C of Sunset Towers. He also runs a restaurant on level 5 of Sunset Towers called Shin Hoo's Restaurant. Before he ran a restaurant, he was an inventor, and sued Sam Westing over the invention of the Disposable Paper Diaper. He has one son, Douglas, who he repeatedly tells to "Go Study." He was married for the second time to Su Lin "Sunny" Hoo, who also served as a cook for his restaurant. His position in the Westing Game was "Restaurateur."
Hoo's partner in the Westing Game was Grace Wexler. They received the clues "FRUITED PURPLE WAVES FOR SEA." Hoo thinks that it is absoloute gibberish, but Grace Wexler suddenly says that the murderer lives in 4C. Hoo barks that he lives in 4C, and past that, he didn't get anywhere in the Westing Game. Hoo is extremely annoyed that no one orders from his restaurant, and keeps telling people to "Order Down, Not Up,"

Doug Hoo
Douglas "Doug" Hoo is an 18 year old high school senior, and is a track star. He is always running, or practicing for a track meet of some sort. He likes to tease Turtle Wexler and pull on her braid, then sprint away. His father, Shin Hoo, is always telling Doug to "Go Study," but instead Doug starts jogging or working out. Everybody has high hopes for him in the future. He listed his position in the Westing Game as "First in all-state high school mile run."
Doug Hoo's partner in the Westing Game is Theo Theodorakis. They get the clues "HIS N ON TO THEE FOR." Theo thinks that it means "One, two, three, four," but Doug thinks that "on" meant "no," and that they had "no" chance of solving the mystery. Overall, Doug didn't really seem interested in the Westing Game. Doug eventually becomes an Olympic Runner, winning two gold medals. He then becomes a TV commentator for sports.
